Today’s slaves are women and children raped in b

Today’s slaves are women and children raped in brothels.
Homeless people taken from the streets and put into hard labour.
Young men tricked into debt, travel and criminal activity.
Children forced to be drug mules, sex toys or beggars.
People kept like dogs in family homes, given little water and food.
(We recently rescued a woman in this situation in Palm Beach on the Gold Coast).
Children forced to work in mines and harvest fields to meet our Western demands for coffee, chocolate, IT, cosmetics and fashion.
Teenagers and young girls who are told they can’t have a career but must marry a man three times their age, cooking, cleaning and being raped daily. (This is on the increase in Australia).
.
This is happening in too many of our restaurants, farms, factories, nail bars, car washes, apartment blocks and office cleaning firms.
.
We work to help end this.
We work to raise awareness.
We work to fund the rehabilitation of victims.
We are the only organisation in Australia that specialises in providing the long term, wrap around support required for people who have experienced this crime in our country.
.
We need to end this in Australia and become ethical shoppers to reduce our slavery imprint overseas.

The Modern Slavery Statements Register is now open for mandatory and voluntary statements to be submitted.

What does this mean?
It means if you want the world to know that you are an ethical business who cares about human rights, you need to be on that register!
.
It means that large companies who now must, by Australian law, work with suppliers who are ethical, will look on that register to find ethical businesses. You need to be on it!!
