“Start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
– Sally Irwin
Modern slavery is a hidden crisis that thrives when we don’t speak up or take action:

It is the second-largest industry in the world.

49.6 million people live in slavery globally.

An estimated 41,000 people live in slavery in Australia.

Only 1,500 have been identified by the Australian Government.

Only 1 in 5 victims are detected.
Raising awareness and volunteering locally can help change these statistics, one life, one voice at a time.

Why Volunteer with The Freedom Hub?
We welcome people from all walks of life. Whether you’re working full-time, studying, retired or raising a family, your life experience and availability can make a lasting impact.
The Freedom Hub exists to end modern slavery in Australia and help survivors rebuild their lives. We are the only organisation in Australia specialising in the long-term care of modern slavery survivors.
Our volunteers are the heart of our mission. When you give your time, you:
Help to support our Survivor School
Help run social enterprises that fund the Survivor School
Create real impact through events, outreach, and ethical business
Raise awareness in your own community, where most Australians don’t realise modern slavery exists
Inspire others by putting your values into action and leaving a legacy of purpose
Strengthen leadership, build friendships, and join a like-minded community of changemakers
Together, we’re building a movement of everyday Australians who refuse to look away. We’re lifting humanity, one act of service at a time.
Where You Can Make a Difference

Café & Events
Be part of the heart of our social enterprise. From making ethically sourced coffee to helping run beautiful, purpose-driven events, this is where community meets impact. Every dollar raised supports our Survivor School.

Fundraising
If you have a knack for building relationships or organising campaigns, this is for you. Help us grow our impact through strategic partnerships, grants, and fundraising activities such as markets.

Survivor Gifting
Help source thoughtful donations from businesses to support welcome packs, special outings, and milestone celebrations for survivors. These gifts offer comfort, dignity, and encouragement as survivors take brave steps to rebuild their lives.

Marketing, Social Media & Admin
We need help with a range of marketing and admin tasks. From social media to writing content, managing emails, or keeping our systems running smoothly, your behind-the-scenes support is vital. You help amplify our mission and ensure our message reaches more people, more effectively.

Professional Volunteers & Corporate Engagement
Do you have legal, HR, bookkeeping, AI, sales/business development hospitality, education, or design expertise? Or are you a corporate team that would like to volunteer? We often need short-term or project-based professionals to enhance our programs and operations.

Survivor School Support
Help us create a safe, empowering space. From assisting with classes to providing hospitality, support services, and administration, volunteers in this area undergo extra training to ensure the highest level of trauma-informed care. Due to the sensitive nature of this role, it’s often offered after building experience in other volunteer streams.
Help us create a better place for everyone in Australia.
What Our Volunteers Say
When I found out how prevalent modern slavery and human trafficking was, I felt compelled to volunteer with The Freedom Hub to be involved in the mission to end it.
I’m so grateful to be working with this community of like-minded people all with the same goal. I know we’re making a difference and I love hearing about the progress being made, including the survivor success stories, the expansion of our volunteer network and the corporates stepping up to enact change in their businesses.
I volunteer with The Freedom Hub because I’m passionate about their vision to end modern slavery in Australia, help survivors to recover and rebuild their lives, and partner in the fight to end global slavery.
I love that TFH is making a real difference on all levels; in the lives of survivors, in the lives of all people by providing education about modern slavery and slavery-free products, and on a larger scale by influencing and helping groups such as government, large corporations, and small businesses. TFH does it all!
