At last the Waterloo cafe is crawling its way out of the Covid doldrums!!! We have travelled from March figures being 75% behind last year to October 45% behind. It’s a tricky time because we are busy enough to need more staff but not enough revenue to pay for more staff. So we have to juggle customer service around the few staff we have while we interview for a few more casuals. As a result, we are very grateful to our locals who get it, and keep supporting us.

Finishing Strong

To boost our end of year, we are running some Festive High Teas for Human Rights. UN Human Rights Day is on the 10th December so we thought it was a great opportunity for our customers to come out and enjoy time together    and support our ethical cafe. We will be giving each customer a booklet on Human Rights and the work we do to end  slavery. Plus there is an opportunity for each table to have a quick presentation from our team on the work we do with slavery survivors. We really hope you can come to this. There are 4 sittings available on the 10th and 12th December.

We are also running a Festive Wine Drive so you can stock up on your party season wines. Ethically sourced  from Italy we have partnered with Direct Wines Cellars so $50 from every case is donated to our work. We have a   case in the cafe for tasting. So why not pop in a give them a try!! These wines are amazing value and taste great.

October in our Waterloo Venue

It was a great month for small events. We had a number of weddings and business events. Our Wednesday mothers group continued – they just love having space for all their prams. Our new barista is making doing some fantastic coffee art and our ‘grab & go’ fridge is jam packed now with summer salads and vegan sweet treats.

Here are some pics from October:
